Patients
at Feather River Hospital’s Cancer Center have access to the
most advanced medical treatments and technologies in the country. The Cancer
Center
is designed to make sure patients are as comfortable as possible while they
are in our care. Oncology specialists at the Cancer Center are dedicated to
developing a treatment plan that is specifically designed to meet your individual
needs. They use a
multidisciplinary approach that integrates therapies to focus on your medical,
nutritional, physical, psychological and spiritual needs.
Resource Library
Be sure to visit the Cancer Center in-house library. The library was designed
to provide patients with educational resources about their illness, treatments
and technology used and the Center. The library is staffed by volunteers who
will help you find the information you need. American Cancer Society Volunteers
are in the Cancer Center library Monday through Friday as follows:
Mondays from 09:30-11:30 a.m.
Tuesdays from 1:30-3:30 p.m.
Wednesdays from 09:30-11:30 a.m.
Thursdays from 1:30-3:30 p.m.
Fridays from 9:30-11:30 a.m.
We also have free cancer educational brochures as well as computer internet
services setup for the American Cancer Society Website/on-line resource center.
Through an affiliation with Loma Linda University Medical Center, Feather River
Hospital Cancer Center patients have access to the world’s first hospital-based
proton beam facility designed for patient treatment and research. The Caner
Center’s commitment is to provide excellent care while caring
for patients and faithfulness in serving our community.
Radiation Oncology
Modern technology has combined the use of three-dimensional imaging technology,
computerized treatment planning and high-energy x-ray machines for your radiation
treatment. Radiation therapy will vary somewhat among cancer patients. Patients
are encouraged to ask questions and discuss concerns with the doctors, nurses,
or radiation
therapists.
Medical Oncology
The Cancer Center’s medical oncology services offer the most advanced
treatment protocols including chemotherapy, immunotherapy and hormonal therapy,
all overseen
by certified by Board Certified oncologists. Care is provided by an experienced
oncology and infusion nursing staff familiar with current treatment regimens
and techniques. The center is designed to provide
our clients with warm and friendly surroundings. We offer chemotherapy, biological
therapy, immunotherapy, monoclonal antibody therapy, antibiotics, blood transfusions,
and other related therapies in the
comfort of our infusion center. Treatments are administered in a timely, safe,
and efficient manner.
Loma Linda University Affiliation
The Loma Linda University (LLU) Proton Treatment Center is the world’s
first hospital-based proton beam facility designed for patient treatment
and research. LLU physicians and researchers are international leaders
in the use
of this precise form o f radiation therapy. Which can control cancer
and other diseases while sparing surrounding normal tissues from injury.
Through
an affiliation
with Loma Linda University Medical Center, Feather River Hospital Cancer
Center patients have access to one of only two proton beam centers
in the country. Protons may improve the outcome for patients who have
cancers in virtually any anatomic site. At LLU, cancers of prostate, head
and neck,
lung, spinal cord, brain, and eye are being explored for other diseases
such as benign tumors and functional disorders. This includes certain forms
of
macular degeneration of the eye, arteriovenous malformations of the brain,
menigiomas
and acoustic neuromas.

Patients at the Cancer Center will have place enjoy nature, by absorbing the
relaxing benefits of a therapeutic garden. The Healing Garden, a serene outdoor
setting is designed especially for the comfort of cancer patients. This quiet
outdoor setting will have an extremely soothing effect providing a therapeutic
haven for our patients.
