and Seminars
Monthly Childbirth Education Classes:
One short class, lasting about two hours, especially designed for children
whose parents want to acquaint them with the birth process. This class
is recommended for all families with children age 3 and over. Includes
a discussion of babies' growth before birth, what they do inside mom and
how they "get out" when they're born. Children will view a short film
which chronicles a child's experiences at her sister's birth, tour our
Maternity Unit and enjoy cookies and punch
Breastfeeding Class
This class is designed for women who want to gain knowledge of the art
of breastfeeding. Lactation counselors are available to help work out
breastfeeding problems as well
Cesarean Birth Class
This class is recommended for parents anticipating a cesarean birth.
Childbirth Education Classes
Breathing, relaxation and exercise techniques, birth alternatives, prenatal
and post partum care, infant care and feeding and more.
Childbirth Education Refresher Course
Breathing, relaxation and exercise techniques, birth alternatives, prenatal
and post partum care, infant care and feeding and more.
Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program
Located at the Family Health Center. Provided for pregnant women who are
Medi-Cal recipients, this program includes nutritional, health, and personal
needs assessments to help women have healthier babies. Free vitamins,
WIC enrollment and classes are offered.
Expectant Parents Party
The Birth Day Place at Feather River Hospital provides expectant parents
with the opportunity to learn about maternity services at Feather River
Hospital, including a tour of the Maternity Unit. Refreshments are served
and door prizes are awarded. Please join us during your third trimester
of pregnancy.
Infant Care Class
This class offers instructions on proper bathing techniques, newborn characteristics,
infant care, safety measures and parenting of a newborn infant.
This is an excellent opportunity for new parents to learn safe and effective
ways to care for their new little bundle of joy.
Pediatric Life Support Class
A program designed by the American Heart Association and the American
Academy of Pediatrics to train infant and child care givers in CPR and
to teach injury prevention. The course is especially designed to help
new or prospective parents, baby-sitters and lifeguards in child and infant
safety.
Pregnancy Celebration Party
A Celebration of Pregnancy is offered for mothers in their first or second
trimester (0-24 weeks). The party includes a fashion show and exercise
demonstration, with discussion of discomforts of pregnancy and things
to avoid. Dress comfortably, and bring a spouse or support person if you
want! Refreshments will be served and prizes will be awarded.
Sweet Success Program
Located at the Family Health Center, Sweet Success is designed for pregnant
women who are Type I, Type II or gestational diabetics. The program is
designed to decrease complications and increase maternal well being through
early intervention. Individual assessments in nutrition, health education
and social needs related to pregnancy are all a part of this State of
California sponsored program.
